The charm and authenticity of the house
strikes you as soon as you walk in. Catherine’s great-grandparents
smile down from their photos on the walls, offering a glimpse of
another time, of a beautiful place heady with the perfume of freshly-cut
lavender.
To the left is the large, welcoming “summer kitchen”,
once used for preparing family meals in the warmer months. With its
enormous red brick fireplace, this is where you’ll enjoy a delicious
breakfast each day.
Opposite
the front door is a broad staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade
and steps of traditional « tommettes », octagonal
terracotta tiles. This staircase leads up to the bedrooms and the
sitting room, which is decorated in warm Provencal colours.
Light floods the landing through the
stained-glass window depicting the magnificent cedar you can see
at the edge of the woodland.
